Defining The Scope of the Project
When RedBlack is involved in the concept stage of an engineering process, we comprehensively review the services requirement in order to accurately and completely define the project. Our engineering department evaluates each customer-specific request, in a timely manner, utilizing the same analytical skills that have made our solutions synonymous for power, performance and quality.
To make best use of specialized skills, the RedBlack Engineering Group is organized into three functional groups:
-
Fixed-Site Group - command centers, network installations, satellite communications terminals, etc.
-
Mobile Group - vehicle systems, boat systems, shipboard systems, helicopter systems, aircraft systems, etc.
- Portable Group - transit case systems, single equipment, single component projects, etc.
Before a project is started, one needs to understand exactly what the “ask” is in order to define what is required to design the solution. To that measure, we have developed a number of requirement definition documents that we can prepare in order to document each project and ensure that each customer has a clear understanding of the scope of work to be done.
- System Requirements Document
- Operational Requirements Document
- Concept of Operations
- Mission Needs Statement
- Specification Development
- Acquisition Documents Package
- Site Survey
We Think Free!
At RedBlack Communications, we encourage our experts to think free, to reach beyond the constraints of the present in order to meet the needs of the future. Your request will be evaluated and analyzed with inputs from the entire design team to ensure the best possible result. Our creative thinking produces innovative solutions.
The Design Process Conceptualizes the Project
Once a service requirement is presented, approved, and/or modified by the customer, the RedBlack team allocates the resources to design the solution. Our team is a cross-section of civilian and military educated and experienced electrical, radio, Audio Visual, test engineers, technicians and, Program Managers that work together to provide the optimum, cost-effective solution. We utilize in-house rapid prototyping capabilities to validate the evolving design in order to reduce the overall cost of design. This in-house prototyping is essential for timeliness from mechanical assemblies to PCB development. Our fully equipped mechanical shop along with versatile software programs such as Solid Works allowsus to rapidly evolve from an initial idea to functional hardware and concept validation.
Design strengths include a wide variety of technologies:
- RF Line of Site (LOS) and satellite radios and accessories
- Local and wide area networks
- A/V including video teleconferencing systems and telephony
- Security solutions: cameras, access control, and intrusion detection
- Mechanical packaging and installation
- Power distribution
- Heating and cooling analysis
Design work commences once a requirement definition has been completed and agreed upon by our customer.
