Ultralife announce medical cart inverter qualification for smart U1 battery

Ultralife is pleased to announce that it has qualified its smart U1 battery for use with(1) Tripp Lite(2) and Ametek Powervar(3) Inverters.

Recently launched, the URB12400-U1-SMB smart battery is an alternative for sealed lead acid batteries found in medical carts (offering the same energy for less weight). Inverters bring AC power to many existing carts, so this new qualification improves ease of battery integration for OEMs in the healthcare sector and allows them to benefit from the latest lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology. It also makes the U1 a direct replacement for LiFePO4 batteries(4) from Valence Technology (U1-12RT, U1-12RJ), Inventus Power (U1-40) or Power-Sonic (PSL-12450).

The URB12400-U1-SMB is a truly ‘smart’ battery that can communicate to the host device via SMBus using Ultralife’s SMART CIRCUIT™ electronics and RJ45 communication. Durability is offered by the battery’s tough UL 94V-0 flame retardant polycarbonate case, keeping internal cells and electronics well-protected. Additional internal protection is offered against over-charge, over-discharge, over-current and over-temperature.
